When visiting the wild animal park as a kid, I remember we stopped our tour to check out some animals. The guide pointed across the way - See them there? In the tree? Goats....
Hold on. GOATS? IN THE TREE?? GOATS CAN'T CLIMB TREES. They have four skinny legs with hooves at the ends. Goats don't climb trees. That's ridiculous. They don't have prehensile tails or even claws?! They have hooves! That makes no sense. Goats can't climb trees.
But there they were. Standing in a fucking tree. Like a waking dream. Standing and looking and blinking.
And we kept on with the tour.
Thinking back on that over the years, I've had to double check my memory. Is that real? Do goats really climb trees and just hang out?
They do. All the time. It's perfectly normal for them.
I'm so happy my inner "voice of reason" (voice that wants to protect me from scrutiny/humiliation) is wrong about this.
I'm sure I am wrong about many more things.
I hope the world corrects me as gently as those blinking, standing, magical average goats, corrected me.
